FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What exactly is Enzymate?

Enzymate is a natural product that includes a unique blend of enzymes, multi nutrients and biodegradable surfactants. These are s specifically formulated to rapidly and safely eliminate organic waste material.

Enzymate derives its efficacy through three primary sources:

    1. a readily biodegradable blend of select surfactants

    2. a concentrated, nutrient-rich extract and

    3. the incorporation of a broad-spectrum enzyme package.

  • How does Enzymate work?

Enzymate breaks down the complex waste molecules into progressively smaller and less complex elements. These in turn, act as a food source for the existing bacteria present in the system. The enzymes stimulate the bacteria which then multiply and accelerate the digestion of the organic waste material. Enzymate itself is also a food source for the micro-organisms in the waste stream.

  • What is the function of the surfactant blend in Enzymate?

The surfactant blend acts to soften organic contaminates. This action helps to reduce fatty particle sizes and breaks apart surface accumulation of oily and fatty materials. In doing so, a greater total surface area of the organic contaminate results.

This enables the enzymes to rapidly stimulate the indigenous bacteria to act upon these contaminants. The surfactant itself also becomes a food source.

  • What is the function of the broad-spectrum enzyme base in Enzymate?

The numerous types of compatible enzymes found in Enzymate act as a catalyst for the indigenous bacteria. This accelerates the natural chemical chain reaction without changing the extent or result of the process. These nutrients are critical to the overall performance of the product.

  • What is the optimal storage situation for Enzymate, and what is its shelf life?

Enzymate is a robust formulation that can be stored for prolonged periods under relatively harsh conditions without losing any effectiveness.  This makes it an ideal choice for situations in which storage under controlled conditions of temperature may be difficult.

It is recommended that Enzymate should always be stored in its sealed, original container in a cool, dry place. Always keep the drum of Enzymate tightly closed when not in use, away from direct sunlight.

Shelf life of Enzymate is related to its storage conditions, but under optimal conditions the recommended shelf-life is one to two years. Refrigeration will prolong shelf life. Strong acids, bases and oxidative agents will deactivate enzymes.

  • How quickly will we see the results?

This depends on the intended use of the product, how the product is applied and the conditions of the environment in which it is used.

If the problem is one of odour, the results should be immediate, but other applications will take longer.

  • How “safe” is Enzymate?

    Enzymate is:

    • bio-degradable

    • non- hazardous

    • non-toxic

    • non-corrosive

    • non-flammable

Enzymate is formulated to be incorporated into water at very low concentration levels.

It is therefore environmentally safe. All regulated components of Enzymate have been rigorously tested for human safety, biodegradability and aquatic safety.

  • What are the effective performance margins for Enzymate?

    Temperature

Enzymate is effective over a wide range of temperatures. For optimum results the operating temperature must be in the range 15°C to 45°C.

    Enzymate is deactivated above 50°C.

  • Bacterial Activity

Enzymate works by stimulating the activity of micro-organisms naturally present in the organic waste.

However, the efficiency of Enzymate is subject to the conditions of the environment in which it is applied. The presence of abnormally low acidic or abnormally high alkaline conditions, the presence of biocides, very low or very high temperatures and high concentrations of salts and harsh chemicals will all restrict the efficiency of the product.

  • For how long is Enzymate active in the waste stream?

Enzymate will remain active for seven to ten days. After this time, the product will bio-degrade and the resultant residue will consist of carbon dioxide and water.

  • Is Enzymate environmentally friendly?

Enzymate is completely environmentally friendly because it is made from natural ingredients without the addition of any hazardous chemicals.

  • Is Enzymate biodegradable?

Yes! Enzymate is 82% biodegraded in just fourteen days. Being organic the Enzymate will eventually biodegrade totally. The resultant residue will consist of carbon dioxide and water.

  • Is it safe to use Enzymate around children and animals?

Yes. Enzymate is safe to use around humans, animals and plant life as it contains no harmful chemicals. It is developed entirely from natural products found in our environment.

  • How long will it take to see the results?

A biological process takes time. Enzymate is not an instant answer, but it is a lasting answer. Biological stimulation is immediate and Enzymate will first soften grease.  For example, pipes should be cleaned within 30 days. Enzymate will form a biological coating preventing further grease accumulation.

    Odours are treated more quickly.

  • If I accidently overdose, will Enzymate do harm to the environment?

No. This product will not harm the environment.

  • Is Enzymate affected by water quality and condition?

No, it is in fact the exact opposite! Water quality is affected by Enzymate and the product works equally well in all water types; brackish, fresh and salt water.

  • Does Enzymate work in anaerobic systems?

Yes. Enzymate functions equally well in both aerobic and anaerobic systems.

  • How does Enzymate affect Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD)?

(BOD) measures how much oxygen is required by bacteria to completely degrade the contamination. The more contaminants in the wastewater, the more oxygen is needed as very polluted water will have a high BOD level. Enzymate will stimulate the digestion and conversion of these contaminants and will therefor reduce BOD levels.

  • Is Enzymate toxic or dangerous in any way?

There are no harmful chemicals in our product, and it is therefore NOT toxic to humans, animals or plant life. Enzymate is non-toxic, non-allergenic and non-flammable.

  • Does Enzymate work in salt water?

Yes. Sea water contains a high concentration of bacteria and this is an ideal environment for Enzymate to work efficiently.

  • pH Levels

Enzymate is effective over a wide range of pH levels (3 – 8.5).
